How the Altex API works

Altex is a normal ReefAPI surface — the same four rules that hold for every other engine on the key.

01
Authenticate
x-api-key header

No OAuth app, no request signing, no per-site account. One key covers all 530 engines.

02
Call
POST /altex/v1/…

Every route is a POST with a JSON body. Parameters are validated against the published schema before anything is charged.

03
Pay
1 or 2 or 3 credits per call

Credits, not seats. Failed and blocked calls are never charged, and cache hits cost nothing.

04
Read
{ ok, data, meta, error }

One envelope everywhere. meta carries latency_ms, record_count and the endpoint that answered.

From a keyword to a store-level Altex price and stock feed

Search once to find products and their categories, list a whole category with filters, then follow each product and its stores.

01search?query=laptop
GET/altex/v1/search?query=laptop

Up to 96 products per page with price, crossed-out price, PRP, stock, seller and rating; facets list the brands and categories.

02category?category=laptop-home&in_stock=true&sort=price_asc
GET/altex/v1/category?category=laptop-home&in_stock=true&sort=price_asc

One category with an exact total, in stock only, cheapest first; page while has_more is true.

03product?sku=<sku>
GET/altex/v1/product?sku=<sku>

Every seller's offer, resealed units, star distribution, specifications and images.

04availability?sku=<sku>
GET/altex/v1/availability?sku=<sku>

The stores that hold it with quantity, city and address.

A dated Altex feed per product with the price, the PRP, the crossed-out price and the stores that hold it, kept apart field by field.

What an Altex field actually contains

Fields that read differently from how they look. Every row was measured against live Altex responses on 2026-10-15.

FieldWhat it holds
skuAltex's product code, the 'Cod produs' on the page (for example SMTIP151BL). It is what product, availability and reviews take; a product URL works too.
price, was_price, discount_amountprice is what the buyer pays in lei, VAT included. was_price is the crossed-out price shown next to a discount; discount_amount is the difference in lei.
recommended_retail_priceThe producer's recommended price (PRP). Altex prints it on Super Pret and plain-price products; it is not the price Altex charged before.
resealed_from_price, resealed_offersThe cheapest resealed (open-box) unit of the same product and, in product, each resealed unit with its price, reason and the store that has it. It is not a 30-day lowest price: Altex does not publish one.
availabilityin_stock, supplier_stock (shipped from the supplier), in_store_only (no online stock, but stores have it, often as a display unit) or out_of_stock. display_unit marks products sold as the store's display model.
ratingThe average of all star ratings, 0 to 5. review_count counts star ratings; the reviews action's total counts written reviews, which is usually fewer.
stores[].qty, qty_cappedUnits a store holds. Altex never reports more than 6, so 6 means 6 or more and qty_capped is true.
seller.typeretailer when Altex (or Media Galaxy on mediagalaxy.ro) sells the product itself, marketplace when a third-party shop does.

On 12 products from 8 searches the price, EAN and seller equalled the product page's own structured data 12 of 12 times, ratings and review counts 3 of 3, the crossed-out price 2 of 2. Search and product returned the same price for 12 of 12 products.

Altex coverage, measured

Every number below was read from live Altex responses on 2026-10-15.

Catalogue

altex.ro and mediagalaxy.ro (Romania, RON). Home and office laptops 1,128 products; 'frigider' 489, 'iphone 17' 91; search counts stop at 720. 133 stores in the directory.

Filters that bite

Home and office laptops 1,128 → Lenovo 481, 2,000-3,000 lei 143, in stock 253, rated 4+ 185, in one store 137; 'frigider' 489 → Samsung 9. Five sorts reorder the list; an unknown brand is refused.

Price accuracy

Price, EAN and seller equalled the product page's own structured data on 12 of 12 products; search and product agreed on 12 of 12.

Fields

On 288 products from 6 searches: id, SKU, EAN, title, brand, URL, image, price, seller and availability 288 of 288; monthly instalment 191; stores holding stock 133; PRP 116; rating 97; resealed price 63; crossed-out price 16.

Limits

Search counts stop at 720 (categories are exact); 96 products per page; store quantities stop at 6; no 30-day lowest price is published.

What Altex data costs

The cheapest call here is 1 credit, so $15/mo (Pro) buys 10,000 of them — $1.50 per 1,000 credits. Credits roll over and never expire, and failed or blocked calls are not charged.

FAQ

Have a question? We got answers.

The questions people actually ask before wiring up Altex.

Get a free key →
Do I need an Altex account?▾

No. Everything is read logged out, and you call reefapi.com from anywhere.

Does it cover Media Galaxy?▾

Yes: add site=mediagalaxy to any call. The catalogue and prices were the same on the products checked; the shop's own seller is Media Galaxy instead of Altex and the monthly instalment can differ.

Do the filters work?▾

Each was checked against the unfiltered count in the same run. Home and office laptops: 1,128 products, Lenovo 481, 2,000-3,000 lei 143, in stock 253, rated 4 stars or more 185, in the Media Galaxy Baneasa store 137. An unknown brand is refused instead of returning everything.

Can I see stock in a specific store?▾

Yes. availability lists every store that holds the product with its quantity (Altex shows at most 6), and store_id filters a search or category to products in stock at that store.

How many results can I get?▾

Up to 96 products per page. Search stops counting at 720 matches; category listings give the exact total (1,128 home and office laptops), so use a category for complete lists.

Are marketplace sellers included?▾

Yes. Rows say whether Altex or a marketplace shop sells the product, product lists every seller's offer and price, and seller_id keeps products one seller has in stock.

Is there a 30-day lowest price?▾

Altex does not publish one. The lower price you may see is the cheapest resealed unit, returned as resealed_from_price.

What is the Altex API?▾

Altex API is a ReefAPI endpoint group for romania's largest electronics retailer (and media galaxy): ron prices, prp, resealed units, stock per store, sellers, specs and reviews. It returns live JSON through POST requests under /altex/v1.

Is the Altex API free to try?▾

Yes. ReefAPI starts with 1,000 free credits, no card required. Altex calls use the same shared credit balance as every other ReefAPI engine.

Do I need an Altex login or account?▾

No login to Altex is needed for the API response. You call ReefAPI with your x-api-key header, and the playground can run live examples before you create a production key.

How fresh is the Altex data?▾

The page example is captured from a live search call, and production requests fetch live data through ReefAPI rather than a static sample.

How many credits does the Altex API use?▾

Altex actions currently cost 1-3 credits per successful call. Failed or blocked calls are free. All APIs draw from one credit pool.

Can I call Altex from an AI assistant or MCP client?▾

Yes. Connect ReefAPI once through MCP and your assistant can call altex actions with the same key, credit pool and JSON envelope used by normal REST requests.

Is the Altex API an Altex scraper?▾

It is the managed alternative to a DIY Altex scraper. Instead of building and maintaining your own scraper — proxies, headless browsers, captcha and constant breakage — you call one ReefAPI endpoint and get the same romania's largest electronics retailer (and media galaxy): ron prices, prp, resealed units, stock per store, sellers, specs and reviews back as clean JSON.

Try it on your own data before you pay anything

The call above is the real endpoint, not a recording. A free key gives you 1,000 credits, the other 529 APIs, and the same envelope everywhere.

Endpoints, parameters and credit costs on this page are read from the live catalog and cannot drift from what the API accepts. Field notes were captured on 2026-10-15.
