Refund Policy
Last updated August 2026
This policy explains when we refund and when we don't. It applies to every subscription and credit purchase made through ReefAPI, and it matches the billing section of our Terms of Service.
The short version
Credits you have already spent are not refundable, because the data was delivered when you called the API. Credits you have not spent may be refunded at our discretion, or where the law requires it. If something went wrong with a payment, email us first and we will sort it out with you.
What is always refunded
A duplicate charge, an amount that does not match what you agreed to pay, or a payment taken because of a technical error on our side is refunded in full, without argument. Tell us and we will fix it.
Unused credits
If you bought a plan and have not used the credits, contact us and we will look at it case by case. We consider how much of the balance is untouched, how long ago the purchase was, and whether the Service worked as described. Refunds of unused credits are at our discretion, except where consumer law gives you a stronger right, in which case that law wins.
Consumed credits
Once a request returns a successful response, the data has been delivered and that credit is not refundable. Requests that fail or are blocked never consume credits in the first place, so you are not billed for them.
Cancelling a subscription
You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it is not a refund of the term you already paid for. Credits you have already received stay in your balance and remain usable, because credits never expire at ReefAPI.
How to ask
Email [email protected] from the address on your account and tell us what happened. Please contact us before opening a dispute with your bank or card issuer: a chargeback takes weeks and locks the funds while it runs, whereas we normally reply within one business day and can refund immediately when a refund is due.
Timing
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method through our Merchant of Record. Card refunds usually appear within 5 to 10 business days depending on your bank. Payments made in cryptocurrency are refunded in the same asset, at the amount received.
