Terms of Service
Last updated June 2026
These terms govern your use of ReefAPI (the "Service") — a platform of REST data APIs that we build and operate ourselves. By creating an account or calling the API, you agree to them.
The service
ReefAPI provides programmatic access to data aggregated from public sources. We may add, change, deprecate, or remove individual APIs and endpoints at any time. We aim for high availability but provide the Service "as is" without uptime guarantees except where a separate written SLA applies.
Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for how you use the data you retrieve and for ensuring your use complies with all applicable laws, third-party terms, and the rights of others (including data-protection, intellectual-property, and anti-spam laws) in your jurisdiction and your users'. You will not use the Service to break the law, infringe rights, send spam, or build a competing bulk-redistribution product. You will keep API keys secret and are responsible for all activity under your keys.
Credits & billing
Usage is metered in credits drawn from your balance. Successful responses consume credits; failed or blocked requests do not. Paid credits and subscriptions are billed through our Merchant of Record, who handles payment processing and applicable taxes. Consumed credits are non-refundable, since the data has already been delivered; unused paid credits may be refundable at our discretion or as required by law. If a payment goes wrong or you believe a refund is due, email [email protected] first and we will resolve it with you directly. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
Acceptable use & rate limits
Don't attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limits, or credit metering; don't probe, scan, or stress the Service except your own account within posted limits. We may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that abuse the Service or create legal/operational risk.
Data & intellectual property
Responses contain factual data; we don't claim ownership of the underlying facts and don't grant rights beyond your lawful use. The Service's software, brand, and documentation remain ours. Where a source requires attribution, we surface it in the response meta; honor it.
Disclaimer & limitation of liability
The Service and data are provided without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid in the prior three months. Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits, in which case they apply to the extent permitted.
Termination & changes
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach or risk. We may update these terms; material changes will be posted here with a new date, and continued use means acceptance.
