How the Slickdeals API works
Slickdeals is a normal ReefAPI surface — the same four rules that hold for every other engine on the key.
No OAuth app, no request signing, no per-site account. One key covers all 585 engines.
Every route is a POST with a JSON body. Parameters are validated against the published schema before anything is charged.
Credits, not seats. Failed and blocked calls are never charged, and cache hits cost nothing.
One envelope everywhere. meta carries latency_ms, record_count and the endpoint that answered.

}What a Slickdeals field actually contains
Fields that read differently from how they look. Every row was measured against live responses on 2026-10-18.
| Field | What it holds |
|---|---|
| price, price_type, price_text | The deal price as Slickdeals prints it on the card, which it rounds: a $21.59-$25 deal shows $22. price is a number only for a plain price (fixed), "from $4" (from), "$1 each" (each), "$8 or less" (or_less) and "Free" (free, 0). Texts like "Buy 5, Get 40% Off", "2 for $2.50" or "$10 Statement Credit" stay in price_text with price null; 69 of 1,300 cards carried no price at all. |
| list_price, next_best_price | The struck-through comparison price on the card, also rounded ($14.99 shows as $15). next_best_price holds the same value under the name our mydealz, hotukdeals and dealabs APIs use. |
| discount_pct, source_discount_pct | discount_pct is computed from the two card prices; source_discount_pct is Slickdeals' own figure, worked out from its unrounded prices. They can differ by a point or two. |
| score | The deal score: thumbs up minus thumbs down. It can be negative. It is Slickdeals' counterpart of the temperature on Pepper sites, on a different scale. |
| voucher_code | deal only: the coupon code written into the deal text ("Apply promo code HJNEGXC7 at checkout"). It is null when the deal needs no code; 2 of 15 recent deals sampled had one. |
| extra_info, shipping_free, shipping_price | The note printed next to the price ("+ Free S&H", "+ $10 S&H", "w/ S&S", "(In-Store Only)"). shipping_free and shipping_price are filled only when that note states them; pickup-only notes leave them null. |
| merchant, link_host, store_url | merchant is the deal's store (id and name). deal adds link_host (the store's domain), deal_link (Slickdeals' 'Get Deal' link) and, with resolve_store_url, store_url: the store page that link opens, Slickdeals' affiliate parameters included. |
| total, total_capped | Slickdeals' own result count. It stops at 1000, so total_capped is true for broad searches; the categories call gives the uncapped counts per category, store and brand. |
With the default relevance order Slickdeals' later result pages can repeat deals from earlier pages and end before the reported total ('instant pot': 229 of 388 reachable, about 30 repeats). sort=recent pages through every deal exactly once (388 of 388).
Slickdeals coverage, measured
Every number below was read from live responses on 2026-10-18 over three runs: 26 searches across keywords, categories, stores and filters, 22 deals, 12 comment pages, 15 feed pages and 12 facet calls, all answered.
12 of 12 search rows opened as the same deal with the same title, price text, list price, store, score and expired flag.
The store page behind the Get Deal button came back for 9 of 10 calls (Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Woot!); the miss was a Woot! deal before a fix, and the same deal returned its woot.com page afterwards.
On 324 cards whose title names a dollar amount, the card price matched it on 317; the other 7 list several items or a gift-card face value.
"instant pot" 388 deals: price $50-100 191, max $60 164, 50% off 107, Amazon 249, Frontpage 61, Popular 160, Fire 21, past 30 days 17, hide expired 43.
sort=recent: 388 of 388 deals, none repeated; three pages of "headphones" over $50: 40/40/40, none shared, none under $50. Popular and Hot Deals feeds: 3 pages, 300 deals, none repeated.
Across Tech, Home, Clothing, Grocery and Babies & Kids: title, store and score on every row; price on 184 of 200; list price on 166 of 200; coupon code on 2 of 15 deals read.
1000 results per search; about 10 entries per facet group; prices as rounded on the card; scores and views change by the minute.

The questions people actually ask before wiring up Slickdeals.
Get a free key →Does Slickdeals have an official API?▾
Not a public one. This API reads the same data the slickdeals.net pages show to a logged-out visitor and returns it as JSON.
Do I need a Slickdeals account?▾
No. Deals, prices, coupon codes, scores, comments and feeds are all public on slickdeals.net. Account-only things such as your own votes, saved deals or deal alerts are not included.
Can I get the coupon code of a deal?▾
Yes. deal returns voucher_code (and voucher_codes when the deal lists several), read from the deal text, and the full description it came from.
How do I follow the Frontpage or Popular deals?▾
Call feed with feed=frontpage, popular, hot_deals or fire_deals, then pass next_cursor to go back in time. Frontpage pages are whole days; the first page covers the last 24 hours and repeats part of the second, so keep deal_id as your key.
Which filters work?▾
All of these narrow the results on Slickdeals itself ('instant pot', 388 deals): price 50-100 gives 191, minimum discount 50 gives 107, Amazon only 249, Frontpage deals 61, Fire deals 21, past 30 days 17, hide expired 43. Sort by relevance, newest, score, last comment, price low or price high.
Where do I get store, category and brand ids?▾
The categories call lists them with deal counts, for all deals or for a keyword, and lists a category's subcategories when you pass its id. Common ones: store 1 Amazon, 439 Walmart, 92 Best Buy, 201 Target; category 40 Tech & Electronics, 286 Home & Home Improvement, 9 Computers.
How many results can I get for one search?▾
40 per page and at most 1000 per search, which is where Slickdeals stops. Narrow with filters or a posting window to reach older deals.
How fresh is the data?▾
Every call reads slickdeals.net live; nothing is cached. Scores, views and comment counts change by the minute on new deals.
What is the Slickdeals API?▾
Slickdeals API is a ReefAPI endpoint group for slickdeals deals as json: search with the site's filters, full deal pages with coupon codes, comments, and the frontpage, popular and hot deals feeds. It returns live JSON through POST requests under /slickdeals/v1.
Is the Slickdeals API free to try?▾
Yes. ReefAPI starts with 1,000 free credits, no card required. Slickdeals calls use the same shared credit balance as every other ReefAPI engine.
Do I need a Slickdeals login or account?▾
No login to Slickdeals is needed for the API response. You call ReefAPI with your x-api-key header, and the playground can run live examples before you create a production key.
How fresh is the Slickdeals data?▾
The page example is captured from a live search call, and production requests fetch live data through ReefAPI rather than a static sample.
How many credits does the Slickdeals API use?▾
Slickdeals actions currently cost 2 credits per successful call. Failed or blocked calls are free. All APIs draw from one credit pool.
Can I call Slickdeals from an AI assistant or MCP client?▾
Yes. Connect ReefAPI once through MCP and your assistant can call slickdeals actions with the same key, credit pool and JSON envelope used by normal REST requests.
320 E-commerce & Marketplaces APIs on the same key
One key, one credit pool, one response envelope. If you are pulling Slickdeals, you are one call away from the rest of the category — no second contract, no second integration.
Need something this API does not do?
Name the endpoint, the field, or a source we do not carry yet. We ship new APIs every week and you would be first to get the key. Real people read every message and reply the same day.
Try it on your own data before you pay anything
The call above is the real endpoint, not a recording. A free key gives you 1,000 credits, the other 584 APIs, and the same envelope everywhere.
Endpoints, parameters and credit costs on this page are read from the live catalog and cannot drift from what the API accepts. Field notes were captured on 2026-10-18.
