Search CeX's catalogue in any of nine countries by keyword, category, supercategory, product line or brand. Every row carries three prices: what you pay, what CeX pays you in cash, and what it pays in voucher. Online stock and the number of shops holding the item come with it. Measured 2026-10-01: an iphone search returns 14,450 items and narrowing to a category takes it to 80.

How the CeX API works
CeX is a normal ReefAPI surface — the same four rules that hold for every other engine on the key.
No OAuth app, no request signing, no per-site account. One key covers all 321 engines.
Every route is a POST with a JSON body. Parameters are validated against the published schema before anything is charged.
Credits, not seats. Failed and blocked calls are never charged, and cache hits cost nothing.
One envelope everywhere. meta carries latency_ms, record_count and the endpoint that answered.
Read the trade-in prices from the live pair, because the obvious fields are zero
CeX's search index publishes four buy-price fields. On 8 rows out of 8, the two with the obvious names were zero and the live values sat in the calculated pair beside them. Reading the obvious one would have produced a column that is 100% filled and says every item is worth nothing to trade in, which no fill-rate check could ever catch. The values here were confirmed against five product documents, matching 5 out of 5, and the meaning of each was taken from CeX's own labels.

Measured 2026-10-01 against the live gateway: 40 fixed cases run twice at 40/40, 50 rows for the field counts including filtered, sorted and foreign-storefront rows. Two of these lines go against us.
uk, ie, es, pt, pl, it, mx, in and au. Currency is read from each storefront's own settings, never derived from the country code.
box_id, title, url, currency, category, supercategory, product_lines, image, in_stock_online, store_count, out_of_stock_store_count, stock_online, collection_quantity and country on 50 of 50 rows.
price_cash and price_exchange on 98%, price_sell and its two history fields on 94%. These come from the live calculated pair; the similarly named fields in the index were measured at zero on 8 rows out of 8 and are not used.
attributes 88%, rating 60%, brand 58%, grade 42%, condition 26%. CeX only publishes these for some categories, so they come back null rather than guessed.
It exists but refused two exits on two attempts. Rather than publish a handle that does not work, it was left out and should be re-measured on another day.
On a search row the source lists shop NAMES; on a product document it is a flag. Published as a list of shops plus a count, so the two are never confused.
Grade, brand and product line arrive wrapped in arrays. Reading them as plain values produced 0% fill on four columns before it was fixed.
