How the Card Kingdom API works

Card Kingdom is a normal ReefAPI surface — the same four rules that hold for every other engine on the key.

01
Authenticate
x-api-key header

No OAuth app, no request signing, no per-site account. One key covers all 530 engines.

02
Call
POST /cardkingdom/v1/…

Every route is a POST with a JSON body. Parameters are validated against the published schema before anything is charged.

03
Pay
2 or 3 credits per call

Credits, not seats. Failed and blocked calls are never charged, and cache hits cost nothing.

04
Read
{ ok, data, meta, error }

One envelope everywhere. meta carries latency_ms, record_count and the endpoint that answered.

Sell or keep: compare Card Kingdom's buy offer with its sell price

Three calls, from a card name to the sell price of the exact printing you own and the cash and credit Card Kingdom would pay for it.

01search?query=lightning bolt
POSTsearch?query=lightning bolt

Every non-foil Lightning Bolt printing (70) with its id, path, edition and the four condition prices.

02card?path=mtg/2011-core-set/lightning-bolt
POSTcard?path=mtg/2011-core-set/lightning-bolt

The 2011 Core Set printing in full: NM, EX, VG and G price and stock, and the 81 other printings Card Kingdom stocks.

03buylist?query=lightning bolt&edition=2011-core-set
POSTbuylist?query=lightning bolt&edition=2011-core-set

Card Kingdom's cash and store-credit offer for the same printing, matched on the same id.

The spread between what Card Kingdom charges and what it pays, in cash and in credit, for the exact printing.

Condition prices relative to Near Mint — what Card Kingdom charges for played copies

Card Kingdom prices EX, VG and G as a share of the Near Mint price. Measured on 309 printings priced $1 or more on 2026-10-15; the API returns each condition's own price, so you never have to apply these ratios yourself.

conditionshare of the NM priceprintings
EX (Excellent)80 %237 of 255
EX (Excellent)90 %18 of 255
VG (Very Good)70 %180 of 255
VG (Very Good)60 % / 80 %57 / 18 of 255
G (Good)50 %131 of 255
G (Good)40 % / 60 % / 70 %57 / 49 / 18 of 255

A condition that is out of stock still carries its price (838 of 838 out-of-stock conditions had one), so in_stock tells you whether you can buy it. qty_available is the printed number Card Kingdom lets one order take (it stops at 8, 20 or 40); stock_qty is the larger shelf count the page carries alongside it.

What Card Kingdom publishes — measured 2026-10-15

Card Kingdom sells and buys Magic: The Gathering singles from its own stock in Seattle. These are the numbers and limits measured on the live site.

What people build with Card Kingdom

The jobs this data is most often used for.

4

endpoints

2/3

credits per call

01

Price a collection at US retail: search or card for each printing gives the NM, EX, VG and G price and whether it is in stock.

02

Decide where to sell: buylist gives Card Kingdom's cash and store-credit offer and how many copies it buys, next to the TCGplayer or Cardmarket price.

03

Find the cheapest playable copy: cheapest_in_stock across every printing of a card from one search.

04

Watch a set's chase cards: search by edition with rarity M and sort by price, every day.

What Card Kingdom data costs

The cheapest call here is 2 credits, so $15/mo (Pro) buys 5,000 of them — $1.50 per 1,000 credits. Credits roll over and never expire, and failed or blocked calls are not charged.

FAQ

Have a question? We got answers.

The questions people actually ask before wiring up Card Kingdom.

Get a free key →
Is the buylist store-credit price the same as cash?▾

No. buy_price_cash_usd is what Card Kingdom pays in cash and buy_price_credit_usd what it pays in store credit; they are separate fields and the credit offer is never returned as the price. On the rows measured the credit offer was 1.30 times the cash offer on most cards; on penny cards both are the same ($0.01). credit_to_cash_ratio is on every row.

Which conditions are covered?▾

Every printing comes with Near Mint (NM), Excellent (EX), Very Good (VG) and Good (G): price, whether it is in stock, the copies one order can take and the shelf count. cheapest_in_stock names the cheapest condition you can actually buy. The buylist quotes Near Mint only, as Card Kingdom's own buylist does.

How do foils work?▾

Non-foil and foil printings are separate rows with separate prices; foil=true in search returns the foil printings. Some promos exist only in foil (Gen Con, MagicFest, some Secret Lair drops) and Card Kingdom lists them with the regular singles; those rows have foil true and listed_as_foil false. In buylist, finish picks non-foil, foil or both.

How do I filter by set?▾

Pass an edition slug from sets (for example 2011-core-set or modern-horizons-3) as edition. Card Kingdom treats an edition as a family, so the answer can include related printings such as the set's commander decks, promos or variants; every row has its own edition_slug and meta.rows_from_related_editions says how many came from a related edition. An unknown slug is rejected instead of returning nothing.

How many results can I page through?▾

search and buylist return 25, 50 or 100 rows a page (per_page) with page numbers; meta.total is the source's own count (1,078 non-foil printings for dragon, 70 for lightning bolt) and has_more says whether another page exists. A page past the end returns no rows with past_last_page true.

Are the prices current?▾

Yes, every call reads Card Kingdom's live pages. On 2026-10-15 1,236 of 1,236 condition prices and 165 of 165 buylist cash offers matched Card Kingdom's own published price file. Prices are in US dollars and were the same from the US, the UK and Germany.

How do I get from a search row to the full card?▾

Every search and buylist row carries path (for example mtg/2011-core-set/lightning-bolt) and id, Card Kingdom's product id. Pass path to card as it is; the card comes back with the same id. A cardkingdom.com link works too.

Does it include price history or sealed product?▾

No. Card Kingdom publishes no price history or previous price, and sealed boxes, decks and graded cards are not part of this API. For price trends over time, call card on a schedule and keep the prices.

What is the Card Kingdom API?▾

Card Kingdom API is a ReefAPI endpoint group for card kingdom's magic: the gathering prices as json: what the largest us mtg store sells every printing for in nm, ex, vg and g with the copies on the shelf, and what it pays for a card in cash and in store credit. It returns live JSON through POST requests under /cardkingdom/v1.

Is the Card Kingdom API free to try?▾

Yes. ReefAPI starts with 1,000 free credits, no card required. Card Kingdom calls use the same shared credit balance as every other ReefAPI engine.

Do I need a Card Kingdom login or account?▾

No login to Card Kingdom is needed for the API response. You call ReefAPI with your x-api-key header, and the playground can run live examples before you create a production key.

How fresh is the Card Kingdom data?▾

The page example is captured from a live search call, and production requests fetch live data through ReefAPI rather than a static sample.

How many credits does the Card Kingdom API use?▾

Card Kingdom actions currently cost 2-3 credits per successful call. Failed or blocked calls are free. All APIs draw from one credit pool.

Can I call Card Kingdom from an AI assistant or MCP client?▾

Yes. Connect ReefAPI once through MCP and your assistant can call cardkingdom actions with the same key, credit pool and JSON envelope used by normal REST requests.

Try it on your own data before you pay anything

The call above is the real endpoint, not a recording. A free key gives you 1,000 credits, the other 529 APIs, and the same envelope everywhere.

Endpoints, parameters and credit costs on this page are read from the live catalog and cannot drift from what the API accepts. Field notes were captured on 2026-10-15.
