markt.de API
4 of 4 endpoints, ready to run
Search markt.de classifieds by keyword and/or category, restricted by place + radius, price range, ad type (private / commercial / wanted), price type (fixed / negotiable / free / swap) and sort order. Returns the ads on one page with markt.de's true total. Every filter is confirmed against markt.de's own canonical URL first: a place or category markt.de does not know is REFUSED instead of being silently dropped (which would return the whole catalogue). A search with no matches returns zero rows and ok:true — that is an answer.

How the markt.de API works
markt.de is a normal ReefAPI surface — the same four rules that hold for every other engine on the key.
No OAuth app, no request signing, no per-site account. One key covers all 321 engines.
Every route is a POST with a JSON body. Parameters are validated against the published schema before anything is charged.
Credits, not seats. Failed and blocked calls are never charged, and cache hits cost nothing.
One envelope everywhere. meta carries latency_ms, record_count and the endpoint that answered.
Resolve the place, then search, because markt.de answers an unknown one with everything
Give markt.de a place it does not recognise and it returns HTTP 200 with its whole catalogue. The result looks like a successful search of that town, and nothing in the response says otherwise.
{"query": "Muenchen"}markt.de's own spelling for a place, which is what the search surface takes. It knows cities, districts, Landkreise and Bundesländer.
{"query": "fahrrad", "location": "Berlin"}Twenty ads a page. The engine reads markt.de's own redirect target to confirm the place and category it actually applied, and refuses with an invalid parameter when the site dropped one.
{"query": "fahrrad", "location": "Berlin", "radius": 25, "price_max": 300}A radius needs a place to be a radius around, so it is refused without one rather than quietly ignored.
{"url": "<from any row>"}The full ad. Its price is confirmed against a third witness, the machine-readable price the page itself publishes.
A place you can prove was applied, a price checked twice, and no contact details anywhere in the response.

}Germany only, in euros, and a fifth of the ads have no price at all
Measured 2026-09-30 against the live gateway across three keyword searches and sixty rows, plus a set of place controls. Three of these lines go against us.
One country and one currency. Place is a German place name as markt.de spells it, at city, district, Landkreis or Bundesland level, and a radius in kilometres can be put around it.
All four were measured answering HTTP 200 with the same unfiltered total as a search with no filter at all. The engine reads markt.de's own redirect target, which promotes a place or category it understood into the URL path and echoes anything else back verbatim, and refuses rather than publishing the catalogue. Verified live: Berlin returns only Berlin rows and Hamburg only Hamburg rows, each sharing zero listings with the unfiltered set, while a nonsense place, a nonsense category and a bad enum each come back as an invalid parameter.
Across forty priced rows the parsed amount agreed with markt.de's own printed figure every time, and no row published a zero. German separators are classified by group width rather than by position, so 1.250,50 is 1250.50 and 49.600 is 49600, while a single dot with two trailing digits stays a decimal. That last case is not hypothetical: on a neighbouring German site it published a rent ten times too high.
An ad page carries its own machine-readable price alongside the printed one, and the engine confirms the number against both. That one is parsed as a machine value rather than with the German rules, because it is not written for a German reader.
Forty of sixty rows carried a price. The rest are give-aways, services and personal ads that publish no figure, and they come back with the amount null and markt.de's own label for what the price is instead. A price filter therefore excludes them, because they cannot match a number.
A search with no matches still draws twenty unrelated ads on the page. Rows are gated on markt.de's own hit count rather than on what the page happens to render, so an empty result is returned as empty.
Our own block detector fired on a string inside markt.de's JavaScript and typed healthy zero-hit pages and deleted ads as the site refusing us. The check now requires the page shell to be absent as well, and a deleted ad is decided on its status first. Worth stating plainly because the wrong answer was ours, not the site's.
No phone number, no e-mail, no address, no nickname, no profile link and no contact route is read from the page, and redaction is on by default on top of that. Verified on sixty live rows: no phone pattern and no e-mail address appears anywhere in the response.
markt.de publishes a relative German stamp rather than a date, and that is what comes back. It is not converted into an invented timestamp, because the conversion would be a guess about when the page was rendered rather than a fact about the ad.
The place and category lookups are the cheap calls and they are the ones that prevent an unfiltered search. Resolve first, then search.
